Pallmann Plast-Agglomerator PFV-PC

Germany-based Pallmann says its compact Plast-Agglomerator PFV-PC is well-suited to processing thermoplastics, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles and polyethylene film, into granules that can be used as raw materials in additional processes. The Plast- Agglomerator PFV-PC:

  • has the ability to process precut and precleaned thermoplastic materials with an initial moisture content of up to 10%
  • reduces the moisture content of infeed material to less than 10%, eliminating the need for an upstream thermal drying process
  • can achieve throughput rates of more than 1,000 kilograms per hour, though its motor consumes less than 200 kilowatts of power

Spectro xSort hand-held XRF analyser

Spectro Analytical Instruments, Kleve, Germany, says it has upgraded the Spectro xSort hand-held X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer with improved performance and precision for aluminium and other light elements, enabling recyclers to identify and sort more alloys faster and with increased precision. The xSort:

  • analyses most alloys in two seconds
  • identifies alloys based on light elements, such as aluminium, magnesium, silicon, phosphorus and sulphur, in seven seconds
  • does not require operators to switch methods between samples or bother with helium flushes or vacuum systems
  • features a compact, one-piece 1.64-kilogram design
